FAQ

Each unit provides 4-6 weeks of comprehensive instruction and was designed to addresses 15-20 homeschool outcomes listed for Alberta, Canada Grade 7. For a complete year, I recommend 4-6 novel study units plus supplementary work in areas such as persuasive writing, research projects, and media literacy. I will be adding more downloadables to help provide full coverage of all 5 of the Alberta Outcomes.

Novel studies are excellent for developing reading comprehension, literary analysis, critical thinking, creative writing, and discussion skills. Each course has been designed to explicitly address 15-20 outcomes within the 5 core outcomes listed by Learn Alberta for grade 7 Language Arts. Each course comes with a document that explicitly shows which components are covered and a parent tracking guide to make it easy to see how to build your year and cover all the requirements. For comprehensive coverage of all 50+ Grade 7 outcomes, you’ll want to supplement with additional text types (non-fiction, poetry, media) and writing genres (persuasive, research). Storypath English units provide the engaging core of an ELA program.

It will depend on your particular Homeschooilng Board, but each course includes detailed outcome mapping and a reporting template sample you can adapt ( based o the Alberta, Canada Grade 6-8 learning outcomes for grade 7). You can document which outcomes were addressed through each activity. Many homeschooling families combine our novel studies with other resources and report the combination as their complete ELA program.
